The Disadvantages of an Elite Education
It’s nice to see that this article is making the internet rounds again! Written by an ex-Yale professor, this piece was the basis for a real-life event that Lois Beckett and I coordinated (the Crimson’s coverage is here). We brought William Deresiewicz to Harvard to sit on a panel with students and hash out Harvard’s (de)merits with a standing room only crowd of over 100 people. Personally, I would love to bring this event to other colleges, and eventually start a network of students who bring more meaning to their education by subjecting it, and themselves, to regular questioning.
