Ahrrrkansas!

Don’t drive off without paying for gas in Arkansas. Or an angry man with a handlebar moustache will come out ta gitcha.

At least, that’s what the sign at the gas station suggests.

Today we took about 8 hours to drive north from San Antonio, through Italy, TX, Paris, TX, a depressing discussion about the demise of American democracy as we know it (on account of yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that allows corporations to give unlimited amounts of money to candidates), a bayou, lots of Dave Matthews tracks, my butt cramping (how does that even get to happen), moving to Canada, how gracefully Canada legalized gay marriage, and finally, out of Texas through Texarkana.

Note the lack of quotation marks. Texarkana is actually the name of the town on the border between Texas and Arkansas.

Only ten more hours to go until Wooster, Ohio! Oh boy! I only wish it was light out so I could catch a glimpse of Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio. Oh well. That, along with roaming the massive Austin Whole Foods, will have to wait until our next American road trip.

That is, of course, unless corporations demolish what’s left of America’s freedoms first.
