When my dad showed me the Smoots on Harvard Bridge, which connects MIT to Boston (“MIT has a Harvard bridge. Harvard should have a MIT bridge! Yak yak.” - Dad), he told me that the frat brothers carried Smoot when he was especially toasted, not that Smoot got up and laid down all the time. This makes Smoot and his brothers sound much more tame. Not to mention that the police now accept the repainting of Smoots instead of giving MIT kids a good chase. Assimilation of dissent into the system!
