One of my favorite parts about performing research is looking at old magazines to gain a sense of what a certain figure meant in the context of the times. TIME is particularly nice, because it’s all online, from 1923 to today. You can even ‘page’ from issue to issue by cover image (the week before Fuller hit the cover featured MLK Jr. as Man of the Year, 2 weeks after, “Sex in the US: Mores & Morality,” with a lovely painting for the cover). Click through the image to read about Fuller as the “Dymaxion American”… in this same year, there was a profile on him in The New Yorker. Both articles are written long, perhaps in efforts to match the scale of his ideas and the volume-expanding (hot-air?) of his frequently invented terminology.
