Fleetwood Mac - Tell me Lies

You know, I feel a lot of pressure, artificial though it may be, to put up a song that you don’t know for this second ‘song-of-the-day’ post. You know why? Because the first one, well, whatever it is, that’s a free pass. Oh, it’s a new feature for my blog, it’s exciting, whatever — but THIS post might be the post that determines whether you continue to listen to these songs. It just very well might. And I’ll have to deal with that and post a darn song anyway, because there will be very many other days to post songs.

So you know what I’m going to do, to take the edge off? I’m going post Fleetwood Mac. Yes. That’s right. I just didn’t appreciate “Tell Me Lies” when I was 10, heard it on the soft rock radio station, and thought it was complete and utter sap-dripping crap. I know now that I was wrong. I’m going to post it, and advocate self-delusion, because this is the most powerful weapon we have in the face of whatever impossibility - finishing 3 papers in 3 days, riding the Hoverboard over water, finally winning that goddamn Pulitzer, etc. - we have in front of us, and ignoring whatever future - moving out of a beloved room, watching cats fly off of ceiling fans on YouTube, losing my shorty, etc. - we know we must face. So tell me lies, Stevie. Tell me sweet, sweet little lies, and I will fight this total and consuming war! Ah, the Pulitzer! I can taste it…
