A sneak preview of stills from Where the Wild Things Are.
More fun facts:
- There is an opera version of Where the Wild Things Are. Yes. An opera version.
- The kid playing Max is named… Max. What’s more, he sounds like a decent kid. “It’s just fortuitous, kismet, circumstance,” says Spike Jonze, who cast Max after a director friend sent him a tape. “I can’t imagine anyone else playing Max. Max is the soul of the movie. He’s a very special sort of kid. Deep and thoughtful. Sweet and sincere.”
- “Jonze has known Sendak, 81, since 1995 when they tried to collaborate on a movie of Harold and the Purple Crayon. (sidenote… SWEET—would see this movie) ‘We would consult him a lot. And till do, every step of the way,’ he says. ‘He was adamant that I make my own thing. He had strong opinions, but he would ultimately efer to us. He told us, ‘Make something very personal to you.’ Early on, he was very quick to insist on that.”
