The gorgeous photos of Facebook’s newly designed offices [c/o Design Milk]: a sexy combination of modern chrome stone with strong retro elements.
When a working friend and I go to lunch, I almost always ask if I can see where they work. There’s so much to be learnt about the world from the environments that people spend their days in — and I take great satisfaction from being a visitor in these spaces, spending a brief time enjoying the view of Chelsea Harbor or free espresso bar or inter-building lazer (!!) at whatever office I get to explore. My enjoyment is in no small part related to my newness to the world of offices and 9-5 work, as well as the fact that I currently do not have to attend one every day.

SF Bay Area Alt Newsweekly seeks Clubs Editor

From my former editor at the East Bay Express, Stephen Buel:

We’re looking to hire an entry-level part-timer if any of you should know someone this might appeal to.

Clubs Editor – East Bay Express

The East Bay Express has an immediate vacancy for the entry-level position of clubs editor, the person in charge of compiling the East Bay’s most comprehensive weekly music listings.  Our ideal candidate is someone with awareness of and interest in the entire Bay Area music scene – not just rock and hip-hop, but dance, country, Latin, and various other scenes.  Applicants must be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable on a computer, and have an aptitude for data entry.  The clubs editor will also review local CDs and write Local Licks, our Bay Area music roundup, and can write for the paper on other topics.  Finally, the clubs editor will compile our weekly film listings. This is a part-time, 20-hour a week job without benefits.  Applicants should send a resume, three relevant clips, and a letter explaining why you’re right for the job to Arts Editor Nate Seltenrich [nate (dot) seltenrich (at) eastbayexpress (dot) com]. No phone calls please.
